LLAMO Constitution

We, League of Latino American Muslim Organizations, may best be understood by examining each of the terms in our name.

The League of Latino American Muslims Organizations is a coalition of individuals, study groups, and Latino Muslim organizations.  The members of this group recognize themselves as a part of an American society and accept American customs and culture that do not contradict Islam.

"Latino" represents the cultural heritage that we share, which acknowledges all contributions that helped shape our culture as it is today. These are to include European, African, Indigenous, and traditions that are not readily apparent; have contributed to the formation of our heritage.

"Muslim" signifies the identity and moral allegiance of our group of people.  By the term “Latino Muslims,” we acknowledge that Islam shapes our moral code and belief system.

"Organization" signifies that anyone who is a part of LLAMO agrees with its purpose and bylaws found in this document, and will not represent LLAMO in any manner that goes against the spirit of Islam.

Whereas, we, LLAMO, recognizing Islam as a complete way of life, do hereby adopt this constitution knowing that the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), are complete guidelines to follow.
